Invisible Bookshelves

Invisible Bookshelves

An invisible bookshelf fixes to the wall without visible brackets or supports, so only the books and objects placed on it stay in view. The result is a clean wall and a row of spines that appears to float in place. Every TEEbooks shelf is designed by Mauro Canfori around one idea: keep the hardware out of sight and let the books do the work. Each shelf is made in Italy from high-quality steel and built for years of daily use.

An invisible bookshelf earns its place for a few practical reasons:

• No brackets on show, so the wall stays clean and the books take centre stage.
• Wall-mounted and slim, it frees up floor space that a standing bookcase would take.
• Powder-coated steel that holds a full row of hardbacks without bowing.
• Two screws to fit, with the fixing built into the shelf itself.

How the hidden fixing works

The fixing sits inside the shelf. You mount a slim steel plate to the wall, slide the shelf over it, and the support vanishes behind the spines. Fitting comes down to two screws: once the plate is level, the shelf is up in minutes. A 60 cm shelf carries a full row of hardbacks, around 15 kg, so you can load it with reference books, records or a stack of art titles rather than the odd ornament.

Choosing a size and set

Widths run from a compact 30 cm up to 75 cm, in depths that take everything from paperbacks to large-format photography books. Fit a single shelf above a desk, or build a full column from floor to ceiling with a 45 x 15 cm wall bookshelf set of six. For a taller, self-stacking look, the 60 cm vertical bookcase set turns a run of books into a slim standing tower against the wall. Smaller collections and children's rooms suit the 12 x 12 cm invisible bookshelf set, which holds a handful of titles at a time.

Colours and finishes

Each shelf is powder-coated in one of eight shades, from clean white shelves that read almost invisibly against a pale wall to an industrial black set that frames the books as a graphic block, plus warmer tones like antique gold and copper terracotta. If you want the shelf to read as a design piece in its own right, the metal shelves range and the wider floating shelves collection carry the same hidden-fixing system across records, plants and everyday display.

Where they fit in the range

Invisible bookshelves sit within the broader TEEbooks wall shelves and bookshelves collections, so you can mix formats across a room and keep one bracket-free look throughout. Compact rooms can pair them with the small shelf range for tight corners and alcoves. Every order ships across the UK in three to four days.

Common questions

How much weight can an invisible bookshelf hold? A 60 cm steel shelf carries a full row of hardbacks, roughly 15 kg, once it is fixed into a solid anchor point.

Will it hold in plasterboard? Yes, with the right fixings. Use suitable cavity anchors for plasterboard, or standard plugs for brick and concrete; the steel shelf is rated for the load once fixed correctly.

How many books fit on one shelf? A 45 cm shelf holds around ten to fifteen average books. Add shelves from a set to build a column or a full wall of storage.
